May 15th - July 15th - Midnight Sun. You'll find the longest duration of daylight hours during this time frame. The Midnight Sun Festival, in Fairbanks, is on June 21st (summer solstice).

end-August through early-April - Northern Lights. As long as it's dark and the sky is clear, you can view the northern lights in Alaska.
December 1st - January 15th - Long Night. You'll find the longest duration of darkness during this time frame.
